... Read moreMaking biscuits from scratch is a rewarding baking experience and a great way to enjoy fresh, warm comfort food. This classic biscuit recipe uses basic pantry staples, making it accessible for beginners and seasoned bakers alike. Start by gathering the ingredients: 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 3/4 cup of milk, and 6 tablespoons of lard, shortening, or butter. The key to achieving a flaky texture is to sift the dry ingredients together before adding in the fat. Knead until the mixture resembles small crumbs, and then combine with milk until a dough forms. Flatten the dough and use a cookie cutter to shape the biscuits. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes until they are golden brown. These biscuits pair perfectly with gravy, jam, or butter, making them a versatile addition to any meal. Don’t forget to share your baking results with friends and family!
