The Shiffawn Edit™ | Morning Edition Becoming Her
There was a time when I thought confidence came from having all the answers.
Now I know it comes from living through the questions.
I’m in my 50s, and this season of my life feels different. I’m balancing a career I’ve built over decades, graduate school, family, becoming a grandmother, and making space for dreams that are still unfolding.
I’ve learned that confidence isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about showing up anyway.
It’s choosing faith over fear.
Peace over pressure.
Growth over comparison.
Every experience—both the beautiful and the difficult—has helped shape the woman I’m becoming.
If you’re in your 40s, 50s, or beyond, I hope you know this:
You don’t have to go back to who you used to be.
You can become someone you’ve never been before.
✨ What has this season of life taught you about yourself? I’d love to hear your story.

Welcome to my favorite chapter. 🤍
— Shiffawn
Turning 50 and beyond is often seen as a time of change and reflection, and I can personally attest to the power of embracing this phase with open arms and an open heart. This season isn't about holding onto what we were but about becoming who we are meant to be. For me, learning to stop apologizing for taking up space was revolutionary—it was about reclaiming my peace and purpose without guilt. Balancing career, family, and personal growth felt overwhelming at times, but choosing to prioritize peace over pressure significantly shifted my mindset. I realized that confidence doesn't mean having all the answers or being perfect; it's about showing up each day with courage, even when the future feels uncertain. This insight allowed me to pursue dreams I had long put aside, including further education and exploring new creative outlets. Becoming a grandmother added a beautiful dimension to my identity, blending wisdom with nurturing energy in new ways. It reminded me that life’s chapters don’t close at 50—they evolve. Engaging with communities like #50AndThriving and #HealedAndChosen inspired me to connect with others who embrace growth and healing during this transformative time. If you're navigating your 40s, 50s, or beyond, remember you don't have to revert to your past self or your old limitations. Instead, you can choose to become someone entirely new. This journey of self-discovery includes choosing faith over fear and celebrating each step of growth. What has this season taught you? Your story matters because, like mine, it might just inspire someone else discovering her own power and peace.

That my peace is more important that me being right… if you tell me the sky is green… you are absolutely right… and I go in with my day…
