throw back
Looking back on my early days learning to ride a motorcycle brings a mix of excitement and nostalgia. As a girl rider in Chicago, joining the motorcycle community was both a thrilling and challenging experience. I remember starting with the basics—balancing, throttle control, and handling—often practicing in quieter areas to build confidence before hitting the busier streets. One thing that stands out is how empowering it felt to be part of groups like #motorcyclesgirl and #girlmotorcycleriders. These communities provided support, shared tips, and motivation that made the learning curve less intimidating. Chicago’s diverse motorcycle scene, from urban roads to scenic routes, offered ample opportunities to improve my skills and explore new places. Safety was always my priority; investing time in proper gear and taking a certified riding course transformed my ride quality and safety awareness. It’s incredible how much proper preparation can boost your confidence and reduce anxiety when riding in traffic. If you’re a new girl rider or thinking of starting, my advice is to embrace the learning process fully and connect with other riders. The camaraderie within the #chicagogirlriders community especially helped me feel welcomed and inspired. Each ride became not just a commute but an adventure that built my skills and deepened my love for motorcycles. Today, I appreciate how far I’ve come, and every throwback moment reminds me that persistence pays off. Whether it’s a beginner wobble or a triumphant first solo ride, these experiences shape us into confident riders on the roads of Chicago and beyond.
