imagine if we started listing off their sins in return. alhamdulillah i cannot be bothered enough to do that everytime, BUT in islam, we’re allowed to have an eye for an eye. you can rebuttal with the same.

In my personal journey as a Muslim, I've often encountered moments where others try to judge my adherence to Islamic principles, especially when it comes to modesty and covering up. What struck me deeply was how some criticisms come from individuals whose own actions carry more serious faults. The phrase “when a misogynistic Muslim man belittles me for not 'covering up' but his sins are much darker and twisted than mine” resonated with me because it highlights a painful hypocrisy. Islam teaches us the value of justice and accountability, famously encapsulated in the concept of ‘an eye for an eye,’ which is more about balanced justice rather than revenge. While it is permissible to respond in kind within the framework of fairness, I’ve learned that it’s also important not to let anger or resentment dominate my response. Instead, we are encouraged to reflect, seek wisdom, and respond in ways that uphold dignity and truth. This principle guides many Muslim women like myself in navigating the complex social pressures within the community. We recognize the importance of modesty, yet also understand that no one is free of imperfection. It’s a reminder to approach one another with empathy and to avoid judgment unless we ourselves are prepared to be held accountable in the same measure. Engaging with social media platforms like Muslim TikTok and other Muslim accountability forums has helped create spaces to share these experiences openly. It allows for a collective reminder that the focus should be on self-improvement and supporting one another rather than tearing each other down. Ultimately, the experience of facing unfair criticism taught me that Islam balances justice with mercy, and while it permits standing up for oneself, it also encourages patience, forgiveness, and self-awareness. This balance is essential for fostering a compassionate community where everyone is mindful of their own actions before judging others.
