there are LGBTQ+ muslims who are harassed by the muslim community & it’s unacceptable. everyone needs to do better. treating any LGBTQ+ person as “less than” or belittling or harassing them or casting hate upon them is all haram. it’s our duty to STAND UP for these brothers & sisters when we see them being targeted or harassed! but too many muslims fail to stand up for these brothers & sisters bc they don’t see them as “worthy enough”. do better

Often, they endure isolation not only due to their identities but also because many peers do not recognize their worth or extend them compassion. This creates an environment where harassment and belittlement can thrive unchecked. It's crucial to remember that Islam teaches mercy, respect, and standing up against injustice. When someone acts with homophobic attitudes, it contradicts those core values, making it our responsibility to address such behavior openly and lovingly. I've found that engaging in respectful conversations and offering educational reminders helps foster understanding and reduce prejudice in our circles. Moreover, creating safe spaces where LGBTQ+ Muslims feel accepted can profoundly impact mental health and overall well-being. Supportive friends and allies who actively challenge discrimination provide much-needed solidarity. Even small actions—like calling out harmful remarks or offering encouragement—can empower individuals and strengthen community bonds. By recognizing that treating LGBTQ+ Muslims as "less than" is not only hurtful but also haram, we realign ourselves with the true spirit of Islam. Together, we can build a more inclusive, compassionate Muslim community that embraces diversity and protects every member from hate and harassment.
