As someone who has reflected deeply on the concept of nazar, or the evil eye, I've found that many misunderstand it as a cause for every misfortune that happens. From personal experience, attributing every negative event to nazar tends to foster a negative mindset and can even lead to suspicion toward others’ intentions. In my spiritual journey as a Muslim, I have learned that true protection comes from sincere faith and trust in Allah’s power rather than fear or blame. When I feel overwhelmed or worried about harm from others, instead of dwelling on the possibility of nazar, I turn to dua and ask Allah for protection. This practice brings me peace and a sense of security because I truly believe that His power surpasses any human intention or action. Walking away from the temptation to blame external negative forces allows me to maintain a more positive outlook and focus on strengthening my relationship with Allah. It’s also important to recognize that the belief in nazar is part of broader Islamic teachings on protection, but it should not replace personal accountability and positive thinking. When another Muslim blames everything on nazar, it can create a sense of helplessness instead of encouraging constructive actions and trust in God’s mercy. In daily life, I try to remind myself and others that negativity only gains strength when we give it power through fear or assumptions. By adopting a mindset rooted in faith and optimism while respecting the spiritual significance of nazar, we can navigate challenges with resilience. Ultimately, Allah’s protection is the truest defense, and trusting in Him helps us walk through life with confidence and peace.
