It’s important to recognize that these struggles do not disqualify you from connecting with Allah or experiencing the full beauty of Islam. In fact, your efforts, no matter how small or difficult they feel at the moment, are seen and appreciated by Allah. Many Muslim women face internal doubts, often influenced by external judgments regarding how to pray or how to dress for prayer. One thing I’ve learned through my personal experience is that spirituality is deeply personal and unique for each individual. For example, you don’t need to meet every external expectation or feel “perfect” to pray or seek closeness with Allah. What matters is sincerity and the intention behind your actions. When I struggled with ADHD, focusing during prayer was challenging, but I found that setting small, achievable goals helped. Breaking prayer times into manageable segments or using quiet spaces enabled me to maintain consistency. Similarly, when battling depression, it was crucial to be gentle with myself and understand that taking a break or praying in any form was still valuable. Through these challenges, I found solace in remembering Allah’s mercy and compassion. Knowing that He sees all my efforts and struggles motivates me to keep going, even on difficult days. This mindset shift transformed my relationship with faith from one of pressure to one of healing and empowerment. To any Muslimah facing similar hurdles: you are not alone. It’s okay to take your time, seek support, and redefine what spiritual practice means to you. Embrace your unique journey with kindness and patience. Allah’s love and acceptance extend beyond perfection and appearances—your dedication and heart are what truly matter.
