Is Raise to Wake draining your iPhone battery?

Dear intentional iPhone users, 🤍

Let’s talk about one of the quietest iPhone features—the one that works so smoothly, most people forget it’s even there.

Raise to Wake is that subtle moment when your screen turns on the second you lift your phone… and today we’re breaking it all the way down.

📱 What’s Shown (Full Walkthrough)

What Raise to Wake actually does:

When you physically lift your iPhone, the screen wakes automatically—no buttons, no tapping. It’s designed to feel natural, like your phone is responding to you.

What you can do once it wakes:

• View notifications instantly

• Unlock with Face ID (iPhone X and later)

• Swipe down → Notification Center

• Swipe up → Unlock phone

• Swipe left → Open Camera

• Swipe right → View widgets

• Access Control Center (swipe down from top-right)

If you do nothing:

Your iPhone automatically goes back to sleep—no battery panic 💤

⚙️ How to Turn Raise to Wake On / Off

1. Open Settings

2. Tap Display & Brightness

3. Toggle Raise to Wake

That’s it. No restart needed. No extra setup.

📲 Important Device Differences

• iPhone X & newer:

Raise to Wake + Face ID + Tap to Wake all work together

• iPhone 8 / SE & earlier:

Raise to Wake shows the Lock Screen, but you unlock with the Home button

💜 Mini Must-Knows

💜 Battery Tip:

Turning Raise to Wake off can help reduce small background screen activations—especially if your phone wakes in bags or pockets.

💜 Privacy Tip:

Notifications can still preview on the Lock Screen. Pair Raise to Wake with “Hide Previews Until Unlocked” for extra discretion.

💜 Workflow Tip:

Raise to Wake + widgets = zero-effort info checks (weather, calendar, battery) without fully unlocking.

🌙 When You Might Turn It OFF

• Phone wakes too often in your bag

• You prefer manual control

• You’re maximizing battery life

• You rely more on Tap to Wake or buttons

There’s no “right” choice—just what feels best for your rhythm.

If this made Raise to Wake finally make sense, save this 🤍

Follow for cozy iPhone tips, digital calm, and features you didn’t know you were already using.

-Sincerely,

Tee 💜🫶🏽

... Read moreHey fellow iPhone users! We've all been there, watching our battery percentage drop faster than expected and wondering what’s draining it. While we often focus on obvious culprits like heavy app usage or streaming, a subtle feature like 'Raise to Wake' can indeed contribute to battery woes, especially if your phone is constantly waking up in your bag or pocket. I’ve personally experimented with this in my Settings menu and noticed a difference! Beyond just 'Raise to Wake,' maintaining good iPhone battery health involves a holistic approach. One of the most common low click queries I see is about iPhone battery health maximum capacity settings. This percentage tells you how much capacity your battery has compared to when it was new. When it starts to significantly degrade, it’s time to consider changes. Here are some of my go-to tips for maintaining how to maintain battery health iPhone and solving battery low problem solution: Optimize Charging Habits: It’s tempting to charge your phone to 100% every time, but Apple suggests maintaining your charge between 20% and 80% for long-term battery health. While not always practical, avoiding extreme full charges or drains can extend its lifespan. And if you're stuck at 1 percent battery iPhone charging, don't fret – just get it on the charger ASAP! Manage Background App Refresh: Many apps refresh content in the background even when you’re not using them. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn off this feature for apps you don’t need constantly updated. It’s a silent battery drainer that many overlook. Adjust Screen Brightness & Auto-Lock: A bright screen is a hungry screen. Reduce your iPhone 13 display brightness (or any model) and set a shorter Auto-Lock time (Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock). The less time your screen is actively on, the more battery you save. My iPhone with its lock screen with widgets is super handy, but I make sure the brightness is sensible. Location Services & Notifications: Apps constantly pinging your location or sending frequent notifications can also impact battery life. Review Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services and Settings > Notifications to limit what’s running unnecessarily. Utilize Low Power Mode: When your battery is low, enable Low Power Mode (Settings > Battery). It automatically reduces background activity, visual effects, and other power-hungry features, giving you extra hours of use. I always turn this on when I hit 20%. Check Battery Usage by App: Your iPhone can tell you exactly which apps are consuming the most power. Go to Settings > Battery and scroll down to 'Battery Usage by App' to identify and manage any rogue applications. By combining smarter use of features like 'Raise to Wake' (easy to toggle off in Display & Brightness settings, as shown in the OCR Raise to Wake toggle image) with these broader battery management strategies, you can significantly improve your iPhone's daily performance and long-term battery health. It’s all about finding what works best for your usage patterns!
