Why I’m done with consoles

About a year into having my PC I made the decision that I would probably never get another console again.

Growing up in a nintendo family, I always had my DS, my DSI, my Wii, and later my Wii U (though my first console was a sega genesis) later on I got a PS3 and then a PS4, before I finally got a Switch and then a PC

Having a PC i’ve realized that I just prefer gaming on desktop, but not only that, I have access to most games regardless of what console they were made for.

I think if I were to get anything it would be a steam deck, but that would be after I have an exorbitant amount of money to spend lol

With the rise of digital distribution services like Steam and Epic Games Store, PC gamers have immediate access to an expansive library of games, sometimes at discounted prices. One major advantage of PC gaming is its versatility. Unlike consoles, which limit users to a fixed set of specifications, a gaming PC can be upgraded over time to enhance performance or graphics capabilities. This means that players can keep up with the latest game releases without having to invest in a new console every few years. Moreover, PC gaming offers customization options that consoles cannot match. Players can build their gaming rigs to suit their preferences, from choosing graphics cards to selecting cooling systems, ensuring an optimal gaming experience. Streaming services and cloud gaming platforms are also pushing PC gaming to new heights, allowing users to access high-quality games from virtually any device. Many gamers find that being able to play games on a laptop while traveling adds a layer of convenience that consoles simply can't provide. For those nostalgic about console gaming, products like the Steam Deck have emerged, combining the benefits of PC gaming with the portability of handheld devices. As gaming technology continues to advance, the debate between consoles and PCs becomes less clear-cut, but the freedom and performance offered by PC gaming are compelling enough to make it a preferred choice for many enthusiasts.

I switched from PS4 to console and glad I did, but I still use consoles for certain types of games.
