Kaika: Café | Art Gallery | Hotel in Tokyo

Last weekend I went with my sister and her friend to this cozy café located in Asakusa. It's a hotel, the first floor has a small gallery and a café, the interior has a brutalist feeling yet relaxing and cozy vibe.

We had to wait in line for about 10 to 15 minutes until we were assigned a table, after that we went to the front by the register to order.

I ordered an Ice Latte, they have the option to order it with ice or hot. The latte wasn't sweet so I could taste the coffee better, but if you like overly sweet stuff you may not like it.

Overall, I liked this place. I had a really good time with my sister and her friend, and the atmosphere of the café was the cherry on top 🍒.

... Read moreWalking into Kaika in Asakusa for the first time, I was immediately struck by its unique charm. It's not just a café; it's a whole experience, seamlessly blending a hotel, an art gallery, and a cozy coffee spot. The brutalist architectural style, which might sound intimidating, actually creates such a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, especially when you see the beautifully illuminated entrance at night. It feels modern yet incredibly warm, a true design marvel in the heart of Tokyo. My sister and I, along with her friend, had a lovely time exploring the space. I'd heard about their coffee, and my iced latte definitely lived up to the hype. It wasn't overly sweet, letting the rich coffee flavor truly shine through – perfect for those who appreciate a good, strong brew. I also noticed other guests enjoying vibrant green matcha drinks and delicious-looking chocolate muffins topped with powdered sugar, which I'll definitely try next time! The clear glass and metal straw added a nice touch to the presentation, making even a simple drink feel special. The art gallery on the first floor is a fantastic addition. It's not a separate, stuffy space but rather integrated into the café's flow. I spent some time admiring a large, abstract painting with textured brushstrokes in earthy tones. It really added to the overall aesthetic and gave us something interesting to talk about. It’s perfect for sparking conversation and adds another layer of cultural immersion to your visit, even if you’re just there for a quick coffee. While we only visited the café, the fact that Kaika is also a hotel totally elevates the vibe. It makes the entire place feel more sophisticated and thoughtfully designed. I can only imagine how cool it would be to stay there, waking up to that aesthetic every morning. It feels like it would attract travelers who appreciate art, design, and a more curated experience than a typical hotel. If you're looking for a place that offers more than just a bed, Kaika Hotel Asakusa seems like it would deliver a truly memorable stay. Overall, Kaika is a gem in Asakusa. It’s a fantastic spot for a weekend activity, a unique café recommendation, or even just to soak in some aesthetic vibes. Despite a short wait, the experience was totally worth it. The blend of art, coffee, and hospitality in such a chic setting makes it a standout. I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a distinctive and relaxing experience in Tokyo!
