To the healing version of us🪷❣️
Having surgery reminded me how important it is to speak up.
When you live with chronic illness, you can get used to minimizing your pain.
You can get used to being dismissed.
But this time, I asked questions.
I expressed concerns.
I didn’t downplay what I was feeling.
And that made all the difference.
Sis, your body deserves to be heard. So do you. 🤍
Living with chronic illness often means enduring pain that isn’t visible to others and sometimes being dismissed by healthcare providers. From my personal experience, I've learned that embracing the healing process isn't just about physical treatment but also about mental and emotional advocacy. During recent surgery, I realized how vital it was to express my concerns openly and honestly. This small but powerful change helped ensure my pain and symptoms were taken seriously, which can make a significant difference in recovery outcomes. Healing is seldom linear, especially when managing chronic illness. Some days feel heavier than others, and progress might look like pauses or setbacks. But it’s essential to acknowledge that needing rest or facing difficult days doesn't equate to weakness or failure. Instead, every step forward—no matter how small—is progress. I often remind myself to take deep breaths and honor my journey, recognizing that healing involves growing softer, wiser, and stronger over time. In advocating for yourself, communication with your medical team is key. Don’t downplay your pain or symptoms even if you've been brushed off before. Asking questions, sharing your experiences fully, and expressing concerns clearly can help your doctors understand your condition better and tailor your care accordingly. Remember, your body deserves to be heard, and so do you. This approach has empowered me to face both flare days and emotional struggles with resilience. Whether you're battling chronic illness, recovering from surgery, or handling trauma, embracing your voice can foster a more supportive healing environment. Together, we can nurture a community of understanding and strength by openly sharing our journeys and supporting one another.
