Question for the lgbtqia community of lemon8

How did you know you were queer or trans? Tell your story below if you feel comfortable. A like is more than enough. For me figuring out my romantic attraction to girls was at 10 and my gender identity at 20. #letschat #nonbinary #lgbtq #lgbtq🌈 #queer

... Read moreIt's incredible to hear everyone's stories about discovering their queer or trans identity! My own journey, like many of yours, was a process, not a single 'aha!' moment. For me, realizing romantic attraction to girls at 10 and my gender identity later at 20 felt like pieces of a puzzle slowly coming together. But what does that journey often look like for others? Many people describe a feeling of 'otherness' or not quite fitting in, even before they have the language to describe it. This feeling might manifest as different interests, emotional responses, or attractions compared to their peers. For some, it’s a quiet knowing that grows over time – a persistent pull towards certain people, or a deep discomfort with assigned gender roles. For others, it can be a sudden, overwhelming realization, often triggered by encountering new information, meeting other queer or trans individuals, or experiencing a specific emotional connection. When it comes to gender identity, the journey can be especially nuanced. You might feel a profound sense of euphoria when trying on clothes traditionally associated with a different gender, or a strong sense of dysphoria when forced into roles that don't align with your inner self. Discovering terms like 'nonbinary,' 'genderfluid,' or 'demigirl/boy' can be incredibly validating, providing a vocabulary for feelings that previously felt indescribable. It's not about 'choosing' your gender; it's about recognizing and affirming who you've always been deep down. Similarly, unraveling your sexual orientation often involves introspection about who you're genuinely drawn to, beyond societal expectations. It's about recognizing patterns of attraction, whether they're towards the same gender, multiple genders, or no gender at all. Labels like 'lesbian,' 'gay,' 'bisexual,' 'pansexual,' or 'asexual' can be powerful tools for understanding and communicating your experiences, but remember, they are descriptive, not prescriptive. Your identity is valid, with or without a specific label. What's truly important is recognizing that identity is personal and often fluid. It's okay for your understanding of yourself to evolve over time. There's no right or wrong way to be queer or trans, and no strict timeline for when you 'should' know. This journey is about self-discovery, self-acceptance, and ultimately, self-love. If you're still on your path of discovery, or even if you're just looking for more support, remember you're not alone. The LGBTQIA+ community is vast and welcoming. There are incredible online communities, local support groups, and resources designed to help you explore your feelings in a safe space. Sometimes, talking to a trusted friend, family member, or even a therapist specializing in LGBTQIA+ issues can provide immense clarity and comfort. Reading stories from others, much like we're doing here, can also be a powerful way to see yourself reflected and understood. Embrace your unique journey, celebrate each step of self-discovery, and know that your authentic self is a beautiful thing to uncover and share. We're all here to support each other on this incredible path.

I think I kissed a girl when I was 7. Got kicked out of church I just really liked her jewelry her parents gave her and the way they always dressed her up. At first I thought I wanted to dress like her but I ended up kissing her out of curiosity maybe I liked her. And well the rest is history. I never knew I just was

A text box explains that verses used against gay people often involve translation issues, historical misunderstanding, or biased interpretation, with a rainbow flag and 'LOVE YOUR SELF' text.
A text box summarizes that 'homosexual' wasn't in the Bible until 1946, verses are about power/abuse/ritual law, and modern scholars say none condemn consensual LGBTQ+ relationships.
A text box discusses Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13, explaining 'abomination' meant ritually unclean, not morally evil, and it was about ancient Israelite purity laws, not consensual same-sex relationships.
