📸 Photograph the dog owner and dog in case the person gives false information or leaves.
🚗 If possible, photograph the owner’s license plate and/or note the vehicle’s make and model.
📱Ask for the dog owner’s full name and phone number.
🧑⚕️ Ask about the other dog’s vaccination status.
🤳Start audio recording if your state allows audio recording without the other person’s knowledge (permitted in Wisconsin; often referred to as one-party audio recording consent). This can be helpful with insurance and potential legal follow-up. Hopefully you don’t need it, but, if you do, you’ll be glad you have it.
📷 Photograph your dog’s injuries before and after cleaning injured areas.
