... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so excited to share some of my latest original character (OC) sketches here. I'm new to Lemon8 and still figuring things out, but I'm really hoping this can be another creative space for me to post my art and connect with other artists. Drawing OCs is one of my favorite things to do – it's like bringing little pieces of my imagination to life! When I'm creating a new OC character sketch, I always start with a basic concept. For example, some of these sketches feature cute anime girls with unique elements like visible stitch marks, giving them a really distinct, almost patched-together look. I love exploring how to make seemingly dark or unusual features blend into a cute aesthetic. It adds so much personality! Sometimes, I even think about how these characters might be interpreted as 'cute goth girls' because of their slightly edgy yet adorable designs. Another fun part of character design is focusing on the details. You might notice characters sporting different accessories, like cool anime chokers. These aren't just random additions; they help define a character's style and attitude. For instance, the character with the long pink and purple hair and cat ears, adorned with a choker and a striped bikini top featuring a teddy bear, really comes to life with those specific elements. Similarly, for characters like the one with short black hair and cybernetic enhancements, a unique anime bra drawing, like a pink and blue sports bra, can emphasize their fierce expression and modern warrior vibe. Or a pink corset-style top with ruffles can add a touch of classic charm to an OC with long pink hair and a pink bow. If you're looking for cute OCs to draw, my biggest tip is to experiment with different themes and traits. Don't be afraid to mix and match! Think about what kind of story your character has – are they playful, mysterious, or rebellious? This will naturally influence their design, from their hair color and style to their outfits. For example, incorporating details like cat ears or cybernetic details can instantly give a character a unique silhouette and backstory. While these sketches mostly show static poses, I'm always thinking about how to bring more dynamism into my art. For those interested in action poses reference or how to draw a character holding something, I often look for real-life references or use 3D models to get the angles right. Even a simple prop, like the teddy bear on a bikini top, can add a narrative element. I find that practicing different poses and expressions really helps bring my OCs to life. It's all about making them feel real and relatable, even if they're fantastical creatures or cyborgs! I hope my little collection of sketches gives you some drawing inspiration. I'm still learning and growing as an artist, and I'm excited to share more of my journey with you all!
