Chicken and dumplings is a classic comforting dish that brings warmth to any family meal. Using Tyson diced chicken breast simplifies the process since it’s already cooked, making this recipe both convenient and delicious. The secret to a rich broth lies in combining chicken broth with cream of chicken soup and adding a bit of Better Than Bouillon for extra depth. Mary B’s open kettle dumplings, found in the frozen section at Walmart, provide an easy way to incorporate authentic dumplings without the hassle of making them from scratch. Breaking the dumplings into quarters before adding them to the Dutch oven helps them cook evenly and prevents sticking. For seasoning, salt, pepper, and a dash of Slap Ya Mama bring a flavorful kick that complements the creamy sauce perfectly. Cooking on the lowest setting for 15 minutes ensures the dumplings are tender and fully cooked. If you prefer a thicker consistency, stirring in a mixture of cornstarch and water toward the end of cooking is an effective way to achieve the perfect texture. Many home cooks have enjoyed substituting biscuits or homemade dumplings in place of store-bought versions, but the convenience of Mary B’s dumplings offers a great shortcut without compromising taste. Serving this hearty dish alongside a simple green salad balances the meal, adding freshness to contrast the creamy, savory flavors. This chicken and dumplings recipe is an excellent option for a quick weeknight dinner or a cozy weekend meal that the whole family will love.
