The Hobbit Restaurant Anniversary Date: Appetizers

Back at the fine dining restaurant in Ocean City where my husband and I went for our second wedding anniversary beach trip. It's a Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit themed restaurant and this is what we got for appetizers!

As soon as we sat down and got our drinks, the waiter came over with fresh and hot rolls with whipped butter! They were super delicious and fit the theme perfectly, reminded me of Hobbiton immediately. The rolls were delicate little twists that were already very buttery without the addition of whipped butter.

We decided to split an appetizer called Scallop Tagliatelle. The description of the Scallop Tagliatelle was this;

Seared dayboat scallops, fresh tagliatelle pasta, truffle butter, peas, pancetta, and parmesan cheese. Drizzled with jus gras.

This particular dish was $27.00, and had fresh pasta and giant pieces of pancetta.

While this dish was delicious, I had wanted a little more flavor from the pasta itself, as all of the toppings seemed to fall off the pasta and didn't get incorporated in as easily. It was still very good, just needed a bit of tweaking.

... Read moreDining at The Hobbit Restaurant in Ocean City offers a charming and immersive experience, especially for fans of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The ambiance cleverly captures the essence of Hobbiton, creating a cozy atmosphere that's ideal for special occasions like anniversaries or date nights. One standout detail that truly impressed me was the fresh, hot handmade dinner rolls served with whipped butter. These rolls, intricately twisted, were not only visually appealing but also rich in buttery flavor, setting a warm tone for the meal. Sharing the Scallop Tagliatelle was a thoughtful choice, particularly for those who appreciate fresh seafood combined with elegant pasta dishes. The use of seared dayboat scallops added a luxurious touch, complementing the freshness of the tagliatelle pasta. The addition of truffle butter, peas, pancetta, and parmesan cheese created a sophisticated blend of flavors, though I found that the pasta could have been better integrated with the toppings for a more cohesive taste. The drizzle of jus gras added a subtle depth, enhancing the overall dish. Price-wise, the roll is a delightful free starter, while the Scallop Tagliatelle, priced at $27, reflects the high quality of the ingredients used. This fine dining experience is accessible without being overly extravagant, offering great value for a memorable culinary outing. For anyone planning a visit, I recommend arriving a bit early to soak in the unique décor and thematic touches that bring Middle-earth to life. It's also a great place to try other themed dishes or cocktails inspired by Tolkien's world.
