Not the what I was going for but ok
When a bingo and bluey themed blanket turns more into Perry the platypus 🤣🤣🤣.(it’s not finished I have 7 more rows to do it’s an anxiety blanket for my daughter just rolled up)
Creating handmade blankets as anxiety aids is a deeply personal and creative process. When I started this project, the goal was to create a comforting blanket featuring characters from Bingo and Bluey, beloved by many children for their cheerful and soothing presence. However, as the stitches formed, the design unexpectedly morphed into Perry the Platypus, adding a humorous and charming twist to the blanket. Anxiety blankets serve as tactile comfort objects, helping to reduce stress and provide a sense of security. The process of crocheting or knitting such items can be therapeutic not only for the maker but also for the recipient. While working on this blanket, I noticed how the simple act of knitting helped me focus and manage my own anxieties. It's also common for handmade projects to evolve unpredictably as creativity flows. The transition from a Bingo and Bluey theme into Perry the Platypus didn’t diminish the blanket's purpose; in fact, it added a layer of personality and uniqueness. This kind of creative flexibility is part of what makes handmade items so special and meaningful. For those considering making an anxiety blanket, I recommend choosing soft, calming colors and materials, but also remaining open to how the project may develop. Whether the design turns out exactly as planned or takes unexpected turns, the love and attention invested are what truly imbue the blanket with healing energy. My daughter is already finding comfort in the rolled-up blanket, and I’m excited to finish the remaining rows to complete this heartfelt gift.
