What I Ate on Cape Cod!🦞🌊🐚
I traveled to Mashpee, MA on Cape Cod recently on a girls' trip with my friends, and this is a roundup of the food that I ate! If you're planning a trip to the Cape, use this as a guide for where to eat.
Dishes I Ordered & Price:
🐚 Calamari and clam strips platter
📍Seafood Sam's
🏷️ Price: $23.27
I was debating between getting calamari or clam strips, and then one of my friends told me that this place offered a combo platter, so I went with that to avoid having to choose between the two types of seafood I was craving. I got the best of both worlds! Plus the fries and coleslaw were also delicious!
⭐️ Overall rating: 9.5/10
🐚 Blackened scallops with ravioli, basil pesto, and confit cherry tomatoes
📍Chartroom at Crosby's
🏷️ Price: $38
These were hands-down the best scallops that I've ever had, they were cooked to perfection. However, the ravioli were a bit lacking, there wasn’t a lot of cheese inside. I’m Italian, I have standards for pasta
⭐️ Overall rating: 8/10
🐚 Strawberry ice cream in a waffle bowl
📍Polar Cave Ice Cream Parlor
🏷️ Price: $7
I’ve never seen a place that makes waffles bowls before, I’ve only ever seen waffle cones, so I was super excited to be able to enjoy the flavor of a waffle cone without the mess.
⭐️ Overall rating: 8/10
🐚 Creamsicle smoothie and an oatmeal raisin cookie
📍The Daily Brew Coffee
🏷️ Price: $11.25
This smoothie tasted absolutely divine and is true to its name! I enjoyed the cookie too!
⭐️ Overall rating: 7.5/10

Oh, Cape Cod! My recent trip there was a true culinary adventure, and while I shared some of my absolute favorite finds like those incredible calamari and clam strips from Seafood Sam's or the perfectly cooked blackened scallops at Chartroom, I realized there's so much more to explore when it comes to the Cape's food scene. If you're planning a visit, consider these additional tips to make your gastronomic journey even better! Beyond the specific dishes I tried, you absolutely must dive into the world of lobster rolls. It's practically a rite of passage! Are you a hot buttered kind of person, or do you prefer the cold mayo-based classic? Every local has their favorite spot, so don't be afraid to ask around. Pair it with a creamy, rich clam chowder – another Cape Cod staple that warms you from the inside out, especially on a cooler evening. Finding a good chowder can be as rewarding as discovering a new hidden gem for dinner. And let's talk about starting your day right! Just like my delicious creamsicle smoothie and oatmeal raisin cookie from The Daily Brew Coffee, Cape Cod boasts charming cafes and breakfast spots that offer everything from hearty pancakes to artisanal coffee. Exploring these local spots can give you a real taste of the community spirit. Don't overlook the smaller, family-run bakeries for freshly baked pastries – they're perfect for grabbing a treat before a beach day. For those with a sweet tooth, beyond my memorable strawberry ice cream in a unique waffle bowl from Polar Cave, the Cape is dotted with ice cream parlors, each with its own loyal following. Trying different flavors and finding your personal favorite is part of the fun. Many spots offer homemade flavors that change seasonally, so there's always something new to discover. You might even find a place that does its own spin on a waffle bowl or cone! If you love to cook, or just appreciate fresh ingredients, visiting a local fish market is an essential Cape Cod experience. You can see the day's catch, often brought in by local fishermen. It’s an incredible way to appreciate the local bounty and maybe even pick up some fresh fish to grill. Farmers' markets are also fantastic for finding local produce, artisanal breads, and unique handmade goods that reflect the Cape's charm. Finally, to truly enjoy your Cape Cod food adventure, remember to embrace the laid-back coastal vibe. Sometimes the best meals are found in the most unexpected places – a small shack by the harbor, or a restaurant tucked away from the main road. Making reservations during peak season is always a good idea, especially for popular dinner spots. And don't forget to pack comfortable shoes for strolling through charming towns between meals, and perhaps a light jacket for breezy evenings by the water. These small 'essentials' really complete the Cape Cod experience, allowing you to fully savor every moment, and every bite!
