Beautiful Venom by Rina Kent book review
Book Review
Book name: Beautiful Venom
Author: Rina Kent
Genre: Dark Romance
My rating: 4.5
My review: This was my very first time reading a hockey romance especially a dark romance. Now I’m a hug fan of Rina Kent and her books. This book was extremely darker than I expect. It remind me like God of Malice in the first few chapter because how dark it got. Now I did like out the FMC had a sassy and fiery personality and didn’t take bs. It was a nice change to see instead of quiet and submissive. To a full on girl who will fight back, and the smut scenes were really good. Now the MMC, I was eh with him. Some of the things he did was a little f*cked up, but I’ve read worse it’s meh. The plot was REALLY good, and the few plot twist as well. I am excited for the next few books to come out and might get into hockey romance now. 😏 #darkhockeyromance #darkromancebooks #book #books #booktok @
After diving into the intense world of Rina Kent's 'Beautiful Venom,' I completely get why this book has generated so much buzz. While my initial review touched on its dark hockey romance vibes, there's so much more to unpack, especially for those curious about its specific aesthetic and notorious spice level. Let's talk about the 'dark romance aesthetic' Rina Kent delivers. 'Beautiful Venom' isn't just dark for the sake of it; it's steeped in a sophisticated, almost gothic intensity that permeates everything from the characters' motivations to the very setting. The 'hockey romance' element isn't just a backdrop; it's intricately woven into the fabric of their lives, adding a layer of competitive drive and physical prowess to the already high stakes. This blend creates a unique 'college romance' experience where power dynamics are constantly shifting, and past traumas cast long shadows. The character archetypes are classic Rina Kent, yet with fresh twists. Our 'fiery FMC,' who I believe is also a 'medicine FMC,' brings a strong, intelligent presence that refuses to be overshadowed. She’s not just a damsel in distress; she's a force to be reckoned with, challenging the 'cold and dark MMC' at every turn. Their dynamic perfectly embodies the 'enemies to lovers' trope, escalating with every interaction. It's truly compelling to watch them navigate their undeniable chemistry amidst a backdrop of simmering resentment. And speaking of backdrops, the 'secret society' aspect is a huge draw. It adds layers of intrigue and danger, driving much of the 'revenge story' plot. This isn't just personal vendettas; it's a deep-seated battle against a hidden power structure, making every choice feel monumental. The plot twists aren't just surprises; they're gut punches that keep you guessing and completely invested in the fate of these characters. Now, for the 'spice level' – a common query for Rina Kent novels! As mentioned in my initial thoughts, the smut scenes are definitely there and they are *good*. They are integral to the character development and the progression of their 'enemies to lovers' relationship, not just gratuitous. Expect intensity, passion, and a significant level of heat that matches the dark tone of the story. If you're looking for graphically detailed and emotionally charged encounters, 'Beautiful Venom' absolutely delivers. Even the 'beautiful venom rina kent cover' itself hints at the story's depth. The imagery of a black snake entwined with red flowers, often symbolizes danger and allure, perfectly encapsulating the perilous beauty of this dark romance. It's a visual promise of the intoxicating, dangerous journey within, set against an ice hockey rink background. For those who appreciate a book where the cover art truly reflects the essence of the narrative, this one stands out. In summary, if you're a fan of Rina Kent's signature dark romance aesthetic, craving an intense hockey romance with a strong 'fiery FMC' and a challenging 'cold and dark MMC', all wrapped up in a 'secret society' and 'revenge story' with a high 'spice level' – then 'Beautiful Venom' is a must-read. It’s a powerful, engaging 'college romance' that explores the darker side of love and vengeance, reminding me why I'm now a fan of the genre.
