Mastering the Art of Rolling Air Dry Clay Flat One of the first hurdles I faced when starting with air dry clay was getting it rolled out evenly. For projects like an incense holder base or a cowboy hat brim, a consistent thickness is key to preventing cracks as it dries. Here's my go-to method: Work on a Clean, Non-Porous Surface: I always use a silicone mat or a piece of parchment paper. This prevents the clay from sticking and makes it much easier to lift and move. Avoid directly working on absorbent surfaces like untreated wood, which can pull moisture from the clay too quickly. Condition Your Clay: Before rolling, knead your clay thoroughly.
