1. My sista friend tattoo- my sister and I got these together. She jokingly would write on Instagram posts or in birthday cards calling me sista friend so we got these together in both of our hand writing! It’s supposed to be like a traditional mom heart
2. My tulip stamp- my mom sister and I all got souvenir tattoos on our recent trip to Amsterdam. I will be getting souvenir tattoos in all of my future travels if I can! Such an amazing experience.
3. My 2 of clubs and 4 of spades- I got these in honor of my late grandmother. She loved the playing poker and would stay in even when she had one of the worst hands. She was known to play 2,4 off suit, like I have on my arm. These two cards also hold specific meaning because she was born on the 4th of January and passed after her battle with ALS on the 2nd. She taught me to make the most of the hand you are dealt.
4. My smilie face, strawberry, 7 pointed star and 3- the smilie face is the Worcester smilie face. I have always loved strawberries and strawberry shortcake. The 7 pointed star is from when I traveled across Australia for 3 weeks when I was in high school. The 3 is one I have with my 2 childhood besties.
5. A disco ball and dice- Taylor swift related but also just two things I really liked the look of…
... Read moreSo many of you connect with the idea of tattoos telling a story, and I love sharing mine! While my smilie face is a nod to the iconic Worcester version, I know many are curious about the broader appeal, like the 'Nirvana smiley face tattoo.' What I truly appreciate about any smiley face design - be it classic, grunge-inspired, or a unique regional take like mine - is its universal message of positivity and resilience. It's a simple, yet incredibly powerful symbol to carry with you. I chose the Worcester smiley because it's a piece of local history for me, a constant reminder of home and finding joy in the everyday. When you're considering your own smiley, think about the specific meaning it holds for *you*. Do you want it to be a subtle personal reminder or a bolder statement piece? Placement really matters, dictating whether it's a tiny, minimalist dot on your finger or a more detailed design on your arm.
Then there's my dice tattoo! I've noticed a lot of interest in 'dice tattoo minimalist' and 'dice tattoo on wrist,' which perfectly reflects my style. My dice, paired with a disco ball, is primarily about a fun aesthetic and a little nod to Taylor Swift, but dice tattoos themselves are rich with symbolism. They can represent luck, chance, embracing risks, or even the unpredictable journey of life itself – much like my grandma taught me about 'playing the hand you're dealt.' For a minimalist approach, you could opt for a simple outline, a single die, or even just the pips (the dots) on a small square. The wrist is an excellent spot for this; it’s visible enough to be a constant personal reminder but can be easily covered when needed. I love how a small dice tattoo can deliver a significant symbolic punch without being overly elaborate.
Lastly, my 'NL' inspired tulip stamp from Amsterdam often sparks curiosity. It falls right into the 'NL tattoo designs' category and the wonderful trend of souvenir tattoos! Getting a tattoo while traveling is such an incredible way to commemorate a trip. It's far more than just a design; it's a permanent memory of an experience, a culture, and the emotions you felt at that moment. For my Amsterdam tattoo, a tulip was the perfect choice – iconic, beautiful, and a clear symbol of the Netherlands. When you're thinking about your own travel tattoo, consider elements that are truly unique to that place: a local flower, a distinctive landmark, a cultural symbol, or even a phrase in the local language. My mom, sister, and I all got matching ones, which makes it even more special. It's a beautiful reminder of that amazing trip to Holland and the bond we share. If you're contemplating one, definitely do your research on local artists beforehand, ensure their hygiene standards are top-notch, and choose something that genuinely resonates with your travel experience. It’s a fantastic way to carry a piece of your journey home with you!
Ultimately, every tattoo tells a unique story, and making it deeply personal is key. Whether you're drawn to a classic smiley, a symbolic dice, or a travel souvenir, let your ink reflect your journey, passions, and the stories you want to carry with you. Happy inking, fellow Lemon8ers!
