Bookhaul time
One way I keep myself from falling victim to overconsumption is making a list of books coming out every month that I want and circling to buy either limited edition or ones I know I will read that month. These were some on my list although eventually I will buy all the books I want 😂 this way I buy slowly as I try to read through my physical tbr.
I also only buy multiple editions of books I adore, if it’s a duplicate of one I don’t adore I give to a friend or take it to a free little library.
Do you plan your book buying?
I will say there are usually some that sneak in from not my urgent list but I’m human 😂

For avid readers, managing a book collection can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s easy to fall into the trap of impulse buying, especially with the myriad of new releases and special editions hitting the market monthly. To foster a more balanced approach, consider creating a monthly wishlist. This enables you to prioritize the books you genuinely want to read rather than succumbing to every new title that piques your interest. When planning your purchases, it's essential to consider factors such as your current reading goals and the size of your physical to-be-read (TBR) pile. This method not only curtails unnecessary spending but also allows you to enjoy the books you’ve already accumulated. It might be tempting to own multiple editions of a favorite novel, but it’s wise to donate or share duplicates rather than clutter your shelves. Engage with the community by sharing your book haul and shopping experiences through platforms like Lemon8. Posting about your carefully curated selections can inspire others to adopt similar habits. By utilizing popular hashtags such as #bookhaul and #bookshopping, you can contribute to a larger conversation about mindful reading and collection practices. Moreover, consider exploring second-hand bookshops or library sales to expand your collection responsibly. These options often provide unique finds and help support reading culture while being budget-friendly. Online marketplaces also offer opportunities to discover hidden gems without the guilt of overconsumption. Ultimately, cultivating a thoughtful book-buying strategy enhances your reading experience and ensures your collection remains meaningful and manageable. Embrace the joy of reading while being mindful of your purchases to create a sustainable and fulfilling literary journey.
