taking my inside cat outdoors for the first time!

2024/6/28 Edited to

... Read moreIt's so wonderful to hear about Snuggles' first time outside and how Ghost supported her! Taking an indoor cat outdoors for the first time ever can be a really exciting, yet sometimes daunting, experience for both you and your feline friend. I've been through this journey myself with my cat, Luna, and I learned a few things along the way that might help others considering this big step. First off, many people wonder, 'Can an indoor cat become an outdoor cat?' The short answer is yes, many can adapt, but it's crucial to understand the implications. While letting your cat explore provides mental and physical stimulation, there are increased risks like traffic, predators, parasites, and getting lost. That's why a controlled introduction is often best, especially when you're just letting an indoor cat outside for the first time. When I started taking my indoor cat outside, I began with a secure harness and leash. This is a game-changer! It allows them to sniff and explore safely without the risk of bolting. Start in a quiet, enclosed space like your backyard for short periods. Watch their body language closely – are they curious or terrified? Some cats absolutely love the new smells and sensations, while others prefer the safety of indoors. My Luna was a bit hesitant at first, sticking close to me, but slowly gained confidence. For those thinking about transitioning an indoor cat to outdoor life, or even how to train a cat to be indoor outdoor, patience is key. It's not an overnight process. Consider a 'catio' or a secure outdoor enclosure as a fantastic compromise. This allows them to enjoy fresh air and sights without the dangers. If you do plan for more unsupervised outdoor time, ensure your cat is microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and has effective flea/tick prevention. What if an indoor cat gets outside unexpectedly? Don't panic! Most indoor cats who accidentally get out will stay close to home. Put their litter box outside, along with some familiar bedding and food, to help them find their way back. Post on local social media groups and notify neighbors. It’s always good to have a plan in place, just in case. Ultimately, whether you decide on making an indoor cat an outdoor cat, or just offering supervised outdoor adventures, the goal is their safety and happiness. Every cat is different, and what works for one might not work for another. Observing your individual cat's personality and comfort level is the best guide. It’s a rewarding experience to see them engage with the world, even if it's just for a few supervised moments in the garden, just like Snuggles and Ghost had!

Taking care of myself, inside and out!
Earlier this year I started working out but when I got pregnant I stopped. I lost so much weight because I had no appetite, so after I lost my baby I started working out and eating right again. And also reading the Bible, getting back to God and starting over. This has been what I eat as of late.😌
