Welcome to the life of RT Student 🫁✨

... Read moreIt feels like just yesterday I was getting that 'Welcome to Respiratory Therapy Pima Medical Institute' banner feeling, and now I'm already deep into my first semester! When I was researching programs, Pima Medical Institute really stood out for its hands-on approach and dedicated faculty. I knew I found the right place to begin my journey to becoming a respiratory therapist. My first semester has been a whirlwind of new information and exciting challenges. We've dived headfirst into the foundations, starting with 'BASIC MEDICAL LANGUAGE'. Understanding medical terminology is absolutely crucial, and honestly, it felt like learning a whole new language at first! But with my textbooks open, anatomy diagrams spread out, and my tablet often displaying detailed heart anatomy, I'm slowly but surely getting the hang of it. My study setup has become my sanctuary, often filled with colorful pens and highlighters as I try to make sense of complex systems. A typical day for me often involves lectures in the morning, followed by labs where we get to apply what we've learned. It's incredibly rewarding to see theoretical knowledge come to life. The professors are amazing, always ready to answer questions and share their real-world experiences, which really helps connect the dots. Balancing studies, assignments, and a bit of a social life has been a learning curve, but it's all part of the 'day in my life' as an RT student. If you're considering a career in respiratory therapy, especially at Pima Medical Institute, I'd say be prepared to be challenged but also incredibly supported. Don't be afraid to ask questions, join study groups, and utilize all the resources available. It's a demanding field, but knowing that I'm working towards a career where I can truly make a difference in people's lives, helping them breathe easier, makes every late-night study session worth it. I'm so excited for what the rest of this program holds!
