EVERYBODY!!!!
it was my favorite thing to do!. #90s
Growing up in the late 90s, especially around 1999, I often find myself reminiscing about how different life was without the constant presence of smartphones. My kid once remarked, "You had to be so bored as a kid without phones." While that might be true on the surface, I fondly remember how that boredom actually encouraged me to get creative and find entertainment in unexpected places. Back then, spending time alone in my bedroom was a cherished ritual. Without endless digital distractions, I would dive into books, make up stories, or just imagine the world beyond my walls. The lack of instant communication or social media meant that we nurtured patience and learned to appreciate quieter, more introspective moments. The 90s provided a unique backdrop filled with iconic pop culture, from music to TV shows, that shaped my formative years. Hanging out with friends outdoors, playing classic games, and sharing mixtapes were the norms. Even the small frustrations from boredom led to developing hobbies and skills that I still carry with me today. Reflecting on this era offers perspective about how technology has transformed childhood experiences. While phones provide unbeatable connectivity now, those simpler times built resilience and creativity in ways that are sometimes overlooked. Embracing 90s nostalgia reminds us that joy and growth can come from moments of quiet and imagination, not just screen time.
