but not easily accessible.
Berenjak comes from London and is currently open to SoHo house members only in Dumbo, Brooklyn (Dumbo house). they’re serving some really great kabobs (reminded me of the ones I’ve had in Iran) and some traditional and elevated apps like truffle olovieh.
We ordered a little bit of everything as I like to do:
Apps-
Breads - barbari & sangak
Mirza ghasemi
Kashk bademjoon
Mast o musir
Truffle Olivieh (surprised how much I loved this one)
Black Hummus - least fave of the apps
Kabobs:
Koobideh
Jujeh
Tikkeh masti
Chenjeh
Stew:
Ghaimeh bademjoon - I’d skip her.
Dessert:
We got one of each of whatever they had. Pictured is the Persian tea ice cream
I was lucky enough to go with a friend who’s a member
Fun fact: last year i made it my mission to go here and i told everyone i met lol but I actually ended up visiting their Dubai location instead (you don’t need to be a member there) which was great.
Anyway, Thank you god and friends who made this happen hehe always so grateful
Your sign to make SoHo house member friends or become a member and take me 😘
Will be back if I can convince the peeps but next mission is to go to the og in London 😋 #persianfood #berenjak #nycfood #persian #nycrestaurants
As someone who deeply enjoys Persian cuisine, visiting Berenjak at the Dumbo House was truly a special experience. The ambiance alone exudes a sense of exclusivity, making it a perfect spot for those who appreciate not just food but also a unique dining atmosphere. What stood out most to me was how the kabobs reminded me of authentic flavors from Iran, especially the koobideh and tikkeh masti which were beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection. The appetizers offered an exciting mix, and I was particularly impressed by the truffle olivieh – it was a delightful twist on a traditional dish, adding a rich, luxurious touch that kept me coming back for more. While the black hummus was less impressive, the other starters like mirza ghasemi and kashk bademjoon truly captured the heart of Persian home cooking. Breads such as barbari and sangak accompanied the dishes wonderfully, enhancing each bite with their authentic texture and taste. For those exploring Persian stews, I would suggest skipping the ghaimeh bademjoon as it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The dessert selection was a sweet finish, especially the Persian tea ice cream, which offered a unique and refreshing flavor profile unlike any standard dessert you’d find elsewhere. If you’re interested in experiencing Berenjak but aren’t a SoHo House member, the Dubai location is a great alternative that’s more accessible. It’s also worth planning a trip to the original London spot to get the complete Berenjak experience. Overall, dining at Berenjak felt personal and memorable, and it’s definitely a place I want to revisit. Whether you’re a Persian food enthusiast or just in search of an exclusive, delicious meal in NYC, this hidden gem is worth the effort to explore.
