Gluttony ≠ Just Food. Here’s What God Showed Me…
It was really hard for me to post this because it’s something I still continue to deal with. But I am being faithful and using the gift God gave me. God speaks to me and gives me images of wisdom and so I’m sharing.
This is probably the millionth time I’ve started a health journey, but this time feels different long-lasting and sustainable. What’s different? I invited God into it. Since I have lost weight I am down about 20 lbs and I have 15 to go ! Each week I see the weight sliding off and I give all GLORY to my Heavenly Father Jesus Christ.
As I grow closer to God, I’m learning what it truly means to invite Him into the little things. So often, we only bring God into the big problems. But the truth is, intimacy with Him grows when we invite Him into both the big and the small.
Think of it like this: how would you feel if someone only came to you when they were struggling? They ask for help, take your advice, then disappear until the next crisis. You’d eventually feel used, right? While God doesn’t “feel used” the way we do, His desire is to be involved in every detail of our lives even the things we think are too small: hair growth, gossiping, being on time to work, acne healing, and more. He is Almighty, but He also longs to be close to you in every aspect of your life.
Personal Testimony on Gluttony:
I’ve never been extremely overweight, but I have been heavier and it absolutely caused health problems. I firmly believe anything that harms us is not from God, because Scripture shows us again and again that God’s character is good, righteous, and without fault.
Through prayer and reflection, God revealed to me that gluttony is really a struggle with self-control, which is a fruit of the Spirit. And sin rarely affects just one area it seeps into all areas. I realized gluttony wasn’t just about overeating or emotional eating; it showed up in overconsumption like buying material things I didn’t need, which affected me financially.
God placed wisdom on my heart in two ways:
1. When you face physical disruptions in day-to-day life, look at them through a spiritual lens because at the root, it’s always deeper than it looks.
2. Sometimes, the issue isn’t gluttony or self-control itself, but something deeper that you haven’t surrendered to God.
At the time, I couldn’t fully articulate what I was experiencing. Then I came across a sister in Christ on YouTube who explained it perfectly.
I encourage you to watch the video, but with discernment. Remember: we all fall short, including content creators. I only watch what God directs me to watch and avoid blindly following everything. Before you listen to anyone online, pray that God opens your ears to hear what He wants you to hear and blocks out what He doesn’t. That goes for this video or any professing Christian online.

So, I leave you with this message: Invite God into the small things. That’s where intimacy grows. 🌿✨

I needed this! Especially with the material things! Thank sis! Have a blessed weekend!
