I hope that me over sharing helps others feel seen

1/12 Edited to

... Read moreOver the years, I’ve found that journaling daily or monthly has been an incredibly grounding practice, especially when it taps into raw honesty and vulnerability. The December journal prompts shared here inspired me to reflect on everything from childhood memories to holiday traditions, and even deeper feelings about peace and growth. Writing down my thoughts about what I'd like to leave behind and bring into the new year actually helped me break the cycle of indecision and self-doubt. I particularly resonated with the idea of reaching out to someone you haven’t talked to in a long time—it can feel scary but often brings immense relief and connection once done. It reminds me that oversharing isn’t just about too much information; it’s about making genuine connections and helping others feel seen and understood through shared experiences. What surprised me was how prompts like "What’s your favorite movie this year?" or "What smells do you associate with Christmas?" can unlock memories I’d nearly forgotten but that shaped my emotional landscape. Something as simple as peppermint hot cocoa or watching an old movie night can be an anchor for joy amidst life’s chaos. Journaling with these kinds of prompts also helped me practice self-compassion. When I answered questions about my struggles with financial stress or decision paralysis, I realized I wasn’t alone in these feelings. Embracing vulnerability in writing became a safe way to face those fears without judgment. For anyone feeling overwhelmed with daily life, I highly recommend starting a vulnerability journal—don’t worry about perfect handwriting or neatness. Let your thoughts flow freely, and revisit them to reflect on your growth. There’s power in owning your story, and by sharing it, you might just help someone else feel less alone too. After all, being seen is a basic human need, and oversharing with intention can be a beautiful way to foster that feeling.
