Step moms count today too right?
Firstly, happy Mother’s Day to every person who ever given birth, adopted, lost, or is loving on a child that they just happen to have to privilege to raise because their partner had a baby already 🫶🏻
Secondly, no one tells you the trial and tribulations, the hoops you’ll jump through, or the tears you’ll shed in this journey of being a mom and that’s okay! It’s worth the struggle to see this little girl grow into this silly little person that she is. No one tells you the patience you gain for someone who just doesn’t understand why we do what we do for them. No one tells you how fulfilling it is when the meal gets ate in full and she wants more and how proud you’ll get when she does something for the first time all by herself.
I will say, although I am not her biological mother the unconditional love I have for this little girl is other worldly. The unconditional love she has for me fills a hole in my heart I didn’t even know was there until I met her. This is my first “Mother’s Day” and although I’ll be working, my mind will be racking the last year I’ve had the privilege to know and love this little girl. My crazy, silly, expressive baby.
Mother's Day is a time to honor various forms of motherhood, including stepmoms who play a pivotal role in their children's lives. The bond that develops between a stepmom and her stepchild can be profound and fulfilling, albeit complex. Stepmoms often navigate unique challenges, from establishing trust to creating emotional connections, and their love is no less significant than that of biological parents. Many stepmoms experience feelings of profound love and commitment, despite the initial hurdles they face. It's essential to recognize these unsung heroes who invest their hearts, time, and energy into nurturing a family that is not their own by birth. Celebrating stepmoms helps foster a sense of belonging and acknowledges their valuable contributions to family dynamics. The support that stepmothers provide creates a rich, loving environment where children can thrive regardless of their familial structure. Through patience, resilience, and shared experiences, stepmoms continue to enrich the lives of their stepchildren while also enriching their own. So, this Mother's Day, let’s celebrate the stepmoms who make a difference every day!

Coming from a bio mom here, step parents definitely count 🥰
