effects of hormonal birth control

I’ve tried quite a few different birth control methods throughout my twenties (I’m 28 as of this week!) and my best advice is to listen to YOUR body and what YOU are comfortable with. And that may change over the years! I believe the mind and body are deeply intertwined and this has led me to make sure I am taking care of both and being cautious of what I put into my body. I’ve personally really enjoyed not being on hormonal birth control, and tracking my cycle through an app. I’ve felt empowered by learning about the intricacies of my body and how to best support myself during each portion of my cycle. #lemon8partner #lemon8challenge #positiveenergy #birthcontrolawareness

Many users report that hormonal contraceptives help manage conditions such as acne and PCOS. For others, they provide reliable pregnancy prevention and can significantly reduce menstrual symptoms like cramps and heavy flow. However, it's important to acknowledge the downsides. Some individuals experience side effects such as weight gain, mood swings, and diminished libido. Irregular bleeding and headaches are common, along with more serious risks like blood clots and increased cancer risks. Understanding your body's reactions is crucial. Tracking your menstrual cycle and being informed about your choices can empower you to find a method that aligns with your health needs. Consider discussing options with a healthcare provider and exploring non-hormonal alternatives if hormonal birth control doesn't feel right for you. Advocating for personal health can lead to better reproductive wellness.
