I just finished checking out this awesome interview with Arturo Castro, the incredible Guatemalan actor who's making waves as the only Latino star in the highly anticipated new film, TRON: Ares! It's so cool to see how he connects his roots with such a futuristic role. The interview was styled as a super fun 'Rapid-Fire Chapín + TRON: Ares' challenge, and his answers were just the best mix of humor and genuine pride in his heritage. One of the first dilemmas he faced was choosing between a classic 'Cafe de Antigua Guatemala' or a 'TRON-style energy drink.' Of course, he went 100% with the Antigua coffee! He even joked about how potent it is – 'if you want to be awake for three days, drink two cups!' I totally get it, nothing beats a good cup of traditional coffee. Then came the vehicle choice: a 'Lightcycle from TRON' or a 'Chicken Bus' (a vibrant, iconic Guatemalan public bus)? His loyalty to Guatemala shone through again! Arturo confidently chose the Chicken Bus, describing it as 'more sturdy' and 'ready for battle,' saying he'd seen them survive impossible things. He even imagined an assistant hanging off the side with a samurai sword – pure genius! When asked about his digital character's favorite dish, a 'pixelated Pepián' (a traditional Guatemalan stew) or 'holographic pizza,' he picked the pizza without hesitation! He admitted Pepián and he were never the best of friends, and he's always been a pizza fan. It’s funny how personal preferences come into play even in a sci-fi context. For a soundtrack to his life, it was 'pure Chapín Marimba' or 'As a Life As You Need Me To Be by NIN.' He cleverly said his ideal version would be NIN with a marimba background. What a creative way to blend two completely different sounds! His ideal post-filming activity was another great one: scaling the 'Pacaya Volcano' or 'parkour in the digital network'? He definitely chose the Pacaya Volcano. He recounted how unique it was to grow up near an active volcano, walking by lava rivers in cracks – truly an unforgettable experience. And for his TRON shield? A 'freshly made tortilla' or 'neon energy'? He wanted the tortilla, but with a crucial addition: 'I hope there's a guacamole sword!' because a dry tortilla just won't do. Again, his Guatemalan humor and love for food came out! Finally, for celebrating a premiere, it was 'Atolito con Rellenitos' (a sweet drink with pastries) or a 'phosphorescent cocktail.' He chose Atolito con Rellenitos, stating that if he gets nervous, the more filling he eats, the earlier he'll fall asleep. What a relatable way to handle premiere jitters! This rapid-fire interview really highlighted Arturo Castro's incredible personality and his deep connection to his Guatemalan roots, even while starring in a huge Disney sci-fi film like TRON: Ares. It's inspiring to see such a talented actor bringing his unique background to Hollywood! Don't miss him in TRON: Ares!
