Su Si Tai Hao, episode 3, "Xin's coup."
- The "Xin Yew Coup" in 1861, which is one of the most exciting political action scenes in Chinese history, because it was a bet on her own "head." If she made a mistake, she could be executed or forced to kill herself, but she overturned the game.
- Before his death, Emperor Wanfeng, suspicious of Su Si's intelligence, set up eight adult nobles, led by Su Xun, to be the regent of his son, intending to keep her out of politics completely, and this group of nobles despised her as just the "mother of the emperor" who did not have any power.
- Susi knew she couldn't fight alone, so she started a secret "deal" with two important characters:
- Su'an Tai Hao, the queen consort of the previous reign, who was noble but soft-hearted and disliked politics, Su'an convinced Su'an that the eight nobles were threatening their authority.
The other is Prince Gong, the brother of Emperor Sianfeng, who holds the military and is knowledgeable in diplomacy but is excluded from power by a group of eight aristocrats.
The key to power is the Emperor's seal, which Emperor Wanfeng gave to Su'an and Su'i to keep each to verify the orders of the nobles.
- As the funeral procession of Emperor Xian Feng is moving back from the hot evasion palace at Selingde into Beijing.
- Su Si claimed to be in a hurry to prepare the funeral, so she arrived in advance of Beijing before the nobles.
- On arrival, she quickly joined forces with Prince Gong to announce her own seal, accusing the eight nobles of treason and trying to seize power.
- When a group of aristocrats arrived in Beijing, it was immediately captured by Prince Gong's soldiers.
- Su Xun, the leader of the group, was dragged to death in the middle of the market.
The remaining aristocrats were either squeezed into suicide or deported.
- This victory brought Su Si and Su'an to the position of "Hoang Tai Hao" and began to sit behind a bamboo curtain to command the nobles, with Prince Gong as the commander of the army.
- At first, Su Si was still very considerate of Su'an, because Su'an was the noblest, but over time, Su Si gradually consolidated her authority to herself.
