As a Black woman who was searching for answers…
There came a point where I realized I was constantly overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and carrying stress that sleep alone couldn’t fix. As I researched, I discovered something I’d never heard anyone explain in a way that made sense to me: Weathering.
🤯
Everything started clicking.
I realized many Black women aren’t just “stressed.” We’ve been carrying years, sometimes decades of chronic stress that’s affecting our bodies, minds, and nervous systems.
That’s why I wrote The Weathering Recovery Guide.
I wanted to create the resource I wish I’d had sooner, a guide that explains what’s happening, why it matters, and gentle ways to begin healing.
If you’ve been searching for answers, I hope this guide helps you feel seen, understood, and supported. Link in Bio. 💕🤎

As I delved deeper into the concept of weathering, I realized it goes far beyond everyday stress. Weathering refers to the cumulative toll that chronic stress and adversity take on the body and mind over time, particularly affecting Black women. This stress can stem from systemic challenges, racial discrimination, and societal pressures, often leading to heightened risks of health issues such as hypertension, anxiety, and fatigue. In my personal experience, recognizing weathering was the key to making meaningful changes in my life. Instead of pushing through exhaustion, I began prioritizing self-care with intention. Mindfulness practices, such as meditation and gentle yoga, became daily rituals that helped calm my nervous system. I also learned to set firm boundaries around work and social commitments to preserve my mental energy. Nutrition and sleep hygiene played a critical role in my recovery journey. I focused on a balanced diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods and established a relaxing bedtime routine that encouraged restful sleep—a vital element often disrupted by chronic stress. Importantly, community support was invaluable. Connecting with other Black women who understand the unique challenges of weathering fostered a sense of solidarity and encouragement. Sharing stories and coping strategies reinforced that healing is possible and ongoing. If you resonate with the feelings of overwhelm or unexplained fatigue, I encourage you to explore weathering further and consider gentle, compassionate approaches to healing. Remember, acknowledging the weight of chronic stress is the first step toward reclaiming your well-being and thriving.
