vanity & self care
Was neglecting myself. A little bit of self care with an at home facial did lift my mood. I find doing something to my appearance (manicure, new haircut, doing makeup just to stay home, etc) reminds me to take care of myself even if emotionally I’m still working on it. Have to start somewhere #grief #selfcare #vanityimpressions
Taking care of yourself physically can have a profound impact on your emotional wellbeing, especially during challenging times. From personal experience, I found that dedicating time to simple beauty routines at home helped me feel more in control and connected to myself. Even an at-home facial or a fresh manicure, activities that may seem purely cosmetic, serve as gentle reminders that you deserve attention and kindness. These acts of vanity are not about superficiality but about fostering self-respect and nurturing your mental health. When I started integrating these small self-care practices, such as applying makeup just for myself or trying a new haircut, it offered a break from the heaviness of grief. The process of looking after my appearance helped me feel more grounded and hopeful about gradual emotional recovery. It’s important to recognize that self-care is not about perfection but progress—taking any step, no matter how small, toward caring for yourself is valuable. Incorporating these rituals into daily life also encourages mindfulness. You become more aware of your needs and emotions, which is vital when dealing with grief or emotional struggles. Remember, it is okay to prioritize yourself and indulge in moments that make you feel good. Vanity, when embraced healthily, can be a powerful tool for self-love and healing.
