Weeki Wachee Springs

Okay, so I just got back from Weeki Wachee Springs, and seriously, if you're looking for a hidden gem near Tampa, this is IT! I'd heard whispers about this place, but nothing prepared me for how enchanting it truly is. These "GoBoat" tours give you a fantastic perspective of the natural surroundings. We saw so much wildlife, from turtles sunning themselves to various birds. It’s a really peaceful way to connect with nature and appreciate the pristine beauty of the area. A quick tip for your visit: get there early, especially on weekends, to secure a good spot and avoid crowds. Parking can fill up fast! And don't worry about packing a huge lunch; there's a convenient SNACK SHACK right on site with plenty of options to refuel after all that exploring. I grabbed a quick bite there, and it hit the spot. If you're feeling adventurous, you can also rent kayaks or paddleboards and explore the Weeki Wachee River at your own pace. It's a completely different experience paddling through the clear waters, spotting manatees (if you're lucky!), and feeling like you're truly immersed in Florida's wild side. I didn't get to do this on my last trip, but it's definitely on my list for next time. Overall, Weeki Wachee Springs exceeded all my expectations. It’s a unique blend of old Florida charm, natural beauty, and family-friendly fun.
