"Light conquers Darkness"
Matthew 7:15-20
[15] “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. [16] You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? [17] So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. [18] A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. [19] Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. [20] Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
The problem with some false prophets is how they victimise and exploit vulnerable people who are already suffering, by undermining their dignity!
It's called "Victim-Blaming" and it is where individuals experiencing hardship are made to feel responsible for their suffering by being told their lack of blessings is due to their own spiritual flaws or nameless sins.
They say unconfessed sin is ‘blocking’ the Holy Spirit from blessing whatever it is they're seeking, whether it is healing or love or relief from poverty or a child, etc. And that it must be due to some deep spiritual fault. (Ouch)
*The negative impact of false prophecies, lead to disappointment, which is further exacerbated by victim blaming. This can ultimately cause individuals to lose faith and abandon their religion, resulting in apostasy.
A true prophet, grounded in God, is characterized by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, as described in Galatians 5:22-23.
Conversely, a false prophet's "fruit" includes deceit, self-promotion, and teachings that contradict the word of God, often leading to division and harmful actions.
So check the fruit before consuming it!
Heavenly Father, I come before you seeking your wisdom and guidance. I pray for discernment to recognize false prophets and teachings that contradict your word. Protect me from deception and guide me into all truth. Open my eyes to see the truth, and help me to test all things against your word. Reveal any areas in my life where I may have been misled, and lead me back to your path. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen."
