"Nothing New"

Colossians 1:9-14

Paul's prayer for the Colossian believers is to be filled with spiritual knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, enabling them to live a life pleasing to God, bearing fruit in good works, and experiencing the power of God's strength for endurance and joy.

It highlights their deliverance from darkness into the kingdom of God's Son, where they experience redemption and forgiveness of sins.

Sometimes it takes a team to wage battle for the mind to have victory over the evil world's persuasion.

This is where connecting with strong believers and prayer warriors come in.

It's important to find "your people" in the Christian community. While we are all One in the same body, life's experiences and commonalities of personalities can play a big part in how comfortable you are exposing yourself to God while others are battling for you in prayer.

This is probably one of the biggest factors stunting the growth of any new believer. You've got to eliminate pride and embrace humility.

There is not a soul on the planet that has been saved and not gone through this process! And guess what!... There's nothing new under the sun!

Ecclesiastes 1.9

"What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."

Colossians 1:9-14

"Since the day we heard about it, have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all perseverance and patience; joyously

giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Thank you Jesus! Amen 🙏

... Read moreThe passage from Colossians 1:9-14 offers profound insight into the spiritual life and growth of believers, emphasizing the necessity of being filled with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to live a life pleasing to God. Integral to this biblical teaching is the notion of perseverance and patience, enabled by God’s strength, which allows Christians to bear fruit in their good works. This reflects the transformative journey from darkness into the light of God’s kingdom, where redemption and forgiveness are constant realities. Ecclesiastes 1:9’s declaration, "There is nothing new under the sun," underscores the cyclical nature of human experience, reminding believers that struggles and spiritual battles have long existed. Recognizing that "what has been will be again" encourages Christians to seek strength and comfort not only within their own faith but also through community support. Connecting with fellow believers and prayer warriors forms a critical frontline in this battle for the mind, helping to resist worldly temptations and fostering spiritual maturity. New believers often face challenges rooted in pride, fear, or isolation which can impede their growth. Embracing humility is therefore vital, as it opens the door to vulnerability and dependence on God and others. Being part of a supportive Christian community— "your people"—enables believers to share burdens and victories in prayer and fellowship. This collective faith journey is essential for overcoming obstacles and growing in grace. Furthermore, Colossians highlights the thankfulness due to God who qualifies us to share in the inheritance of the saints. It offers assurance about the forgiveness and redemption found only through Jesus Christ, reinforcing the foundation upon which endurance and joy are built. For readers seeking to deepen their spiritual walk, understanding these biblical principles and applying them consistently can result in increased resilience and purpose. The passage encourages believers to pursue spiritual growth actively while relying on God’s power and the support of a loving community. This practical theology guides Christians in handling life's repetitive trials with faith, patience, and steadfastness, truly reflecting the timeless wisdom that "there is nothing new under the sun."
