"Signs and Wonders"

Luke 23:8-9

When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him.

So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer.

Herod wasn't looking for Truth or some deeper reason behind Jesus' actions, he thought He could treat Jesus like a dog and pony show!

Luke 4:12

"And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

There was a purpose for everything that Jesus did. He was not an entertainer for the pleasure of an earthy king!

Many people approach faith in a transactional way, seeking God primarily for what he can provide rather than for a relationship with him.

This attitude can be seen in those who desire to witness powerful displays of God's ability through spiritual gifts such as words of knowledge or prophecy, but they lack a sincere desire to know the Giver.

Or

Those who desire to be seen for their own spiritual abilities that are more concerned with their reputation than with magnifying God. But true worship is not about the external manifestations but about the internal heart posture.

John 4:24

"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Lord may we never cheapen Your purpose, we never want anything from You that You don't intend for us to have.

Lord, You are the Giver of Life, the Example of Love, and the Bestower of spiritual gifts, empowering us to serve the Church for the common good and Your glory.

You give all wisdom, guiding us to discover and use our gifts to fulfill Your divine purpose for my lives and I thank you.
