"Blowing in the Wind"
1 John 2:6
"Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
Jesus was contemplative, He walked in an intentioal way, knowing what His purpose was. Always aware of His surroundings. Knowing when and when not to engage in conflict or conversation. He was transparent, He certainly had to secrets to hide!
A sense of duty is great! But have you ever been trapped in it? Have you developed a routine that seems to consume you? Doing the same things over and over. Things that may glorify the Kingdom, but you've become so hyper focused on it that it's now become mindless? You look at yourself in the mirror and realize that you've worn yourself out possibly even become irritable?
Jesus was always on the move, never seeming to tire. Taking on situations as they came. Knowing where He needed to be and going there.
So if wind didn't move, would we know it was there?
John 3:8
"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Perhaps the key to escaping this trap lies in following the spontaneous guidance of the Spirit. Living a life in tune with the Holy Spirit's leading, a life that is dynamic and unpredictable, instead of rigid and routine.
Just as the wind is not bound by fixed paths, a Spirit-led life is flexible and responsive to divine direction, not a rigid schedule.Jesus' life was a series of responsive actions driven by the Spirit's immediate promptings, rather than a pre-programmed set of tasks.
By embracing this spontaneous, Spirit-led path, we are free from the consumption of a routine. It allows for a fresh, sense of duty that aligns with God's timing and purpose, mirroring the freedom of the wind.
By aligning with the Spirit's movement, rather than the rigidity of a self-imposed routines, we can transform a "trapped" sense of duty into a fulfilling purpose that avoids the pitfalls of mindless repetition and exhaustion.
Lord help us live the Spirit led lives that fulfills Your purpose. Lead us by Your Divine direction and create in us new ways of delivering Your message for the Nations to receive. In Jesus' name, Amen.
