Praise God
Psalms 66:1-4
Shout for joy to God, all the earth! [2] Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious. [3] Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you. [4] All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name.”
These verses are about recognizing God's supreme power, and how He demonstrates it through his actions in the world. Our call in response is enthusiastically, worship and acknowledg His sovereignty.
The verses that follow this are examples of God's power as He clears the path before us.
* This passage reminds me of meeting God for the first time and actually knowing He was there, that is when I was initially very respondant to what He wanted me to do with my life.
Psalms like this are a reawakening of that initial fire that He started. It didn't take me long to realize that praising and worshipping God was actually the fuel that kept it burning.
Worship is often done for the wrong reasons, it can cause an emotional high so to speak without any actual reverence for God.
Or in can be be fuel for the fire...
Honestly seeking more of Him through worship and praise brings you closer. He wants us closer, that's how we get to know Him.
The more we know Him, the more we understand exactly what He wants us to do. So it essence, it's a constant cycle of our response to Him and His response back to us, and our relationships getting closer and closer!
"Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know" (Jeremiah 33:3).
Jesus told His disciples, "I no longer call you servants, but friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you" (John 15:15).
Praising God is more than just a ritual; it’s a heartfelt response to His supreme power and love. Psalms 66:1-4 powerfully calls all the earth to shout for joy and sing the glory of God’s name, recognizing how awesome His deeds are. This invitation to worship is a reminder that genuine praise stems from awe and reverence, not from searching for emotional highs. Unlike shallow or purely emotional worship, seeking more of God through worship results in a closer walk with Him. This closeness fosters an intimate relationship where God’s mighty acts become evident in everyday life. Moreover, recognizing God’s sovereignty—as the earth bows down to Him and sings His praises—empowers believers to face challenges fearlessly. Understanding that God’s power causes enemies to falter encourages trust and confidence in His protection and provision. In sum, true worship is a transformative cycle: as we praise God, He reveals Himself, guiding us closer and closer into His will. This ongoing dynamic cultivates spiritual growth, nurtures faith, and enriches our lives with the awareness of God’s mighty deeds and loving friendship.
