This is not just a thought, but a duty... a duty we are prone to neglect when we get busy with our lives.
Our excuses are things like "I always forget to think about it"
Or "I just never seem to have enough time.
But have we ever considered our habits? People are naturally curious...particularly if we intentionally practice our habits in their presence. Prayer, or reading scripture, or anything else that glorifies God, will be noticed and questions will naturally be asked. Perhaps not immediately, but eventually we will have an opportunity to share our faith.
Even those prople who never show an interest, or draw that "heavy sigh" when the topic comes up, will bend to their own curiosity! Remember the cat that curiously killed! 😊
The Greek word used actually translates to 'impart' or 'have in common with', meaning sharing our resources compassionately.
Sharing our faith is the utmost act of compassion...opening our lives to be seen by others is our sacrifice... both of which are pleasing to God.
Ultimately we are called to live lives of active, generous love, and caring for others. In many cases the only opportunity we may have to help some people is to allow them to see our devotion to God. Amen
In our fast-paced lives, it's easy to let the duty of doing good and sharing our blessings slip to the bottom of our priorities. Yet, as Hebrews 13:16 reminds us, such sacrifices are pleasing to God and essential to a compassionate life. I've noticed that one effective way to embrace this duty is by nurturing natural curiosity—both ours and that of people around us. Curiosity opens doors. The small habits we practice daily, such as prayer or reading scripture, quietly demonstrate our faith to others. Over time, these visible expressions can spark genuine questions and conversations. Even those who initially seem disinterested often reveal a deeper curiosity, seeking to understand the source of our love and hope. Furthermore, sharing faith isn't limited to words—it’s about imparting kindness and resources generously. This act of compassion connects us meaningfully with others. For example, I found that when I intentionally look for ways to help in my community or simply listen with empathy, people notice and appreciate the sincerity behind my actions. Remembering the Greek meaning of "impart" as "to have in common with" deepens the significance of sharing: it’s about building relationships grounded in genuine care. Through simple acts and living authentically, we become living testimonies that inspire others. By consciously practicing loving habits and allowing our faith to be visible, we not only fulfill a divine calling but also create moments where curiosity leads to openness and transformation. In this way, doing good and sharing what we have becomes more than duty—it becomes a joyful expression of active, generous love.
