"In step with the Spirit"

Good morning VOD 🕊

2 John 1:6

"And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it."

Authentic love for God is rooted in His love for us, demonstrated through obedience to His commands.

So It's a lifestyle, not a feeling...

If love is shown through lust, it is selfish and fleeting.

If shown through mild flirtation, it is shallow and superficial.

If shown through forced duty, it is legalistic, missing the joy of relationship.

If shown through impatience, it is not love at all, for true love is patient and kind.

If love is shown through curiosity,

then it's intentional, humble, and a sacrificial effort to know and care for others.

If shown through selfish curiosity, it lacks deep, enduring commitment.

However, if love is shown through sacrifice, it reflects the heart of Christ.

If it produces peace, kindness, joy, or faithfulness, it is the Holy Spirit’s fruit within us.

True love for God is a lifestyle of obedience that transforms how we treat others. If our actions do not reflect the fruits of the Spirit, we must re-examine our devotion to Him.

"Lord, thank You for first loving us. Transform our hearts so that our love is not selfish or superficial, but a reflection of Your nature.

Teach us to walk in Your commandments and to love others with sacrificial, patient, and kind hearts. In Jesus' name, Amen."

... Read moreWalking in step with the Spirit is more than just a spiritual catchphrase; it’s a transformative way of life that changes how we express love and obedience daily. Reflecting on 2 John 1:6, love is a continuous commitment to follow God’s commandments—not just a momentary feeling but a lifestyle choice. Over time, I have realized that the true test of love is how it manifests in our actions toward others. It is patient, kind, and sacrificial, echoing the qualities described in 1 Corinthians 13:7 and the fruits of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23. One practical way I live this out is by intentionally practicing patience and kindness, especially when faced with challenges or difficult people. This approach requires humility and constant prayer for transformation so that my actions become a reflection of Christ’s heart. Living by the Spirit means letting go of selfish curiosity or superficial interactions and embracing deep, intentional care. The Scripture reminds us in Galatians 5:25, "If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit." This verse encourages daily mindfulness of our spiritual walk, helping me to avoid falling into legalism or impulsive behavior. Observing these principles has made my faith journey more joyful and peaceful, and it strengthens my relationships with others. For anyone struggling to understand how to love authentically according to the Spirit’s guidance, I recommend starting with sincere self-reflection. Are your actions motivated by fleeting emotions or deep commitment? Are you producing fruit that brings peace and joy? Personal experience has shown me that walking in love and obedience requires ongoing effort and God's grace, but it is ultimately rewarding, leading to a life that honors God and blesses those around us.
