"The Tension of the Thorn"

It is incredibly uncomfortable to talk about God when your current reality feels like a direct contradiction to His promises.
You’ve seen Him perform miracles in the past. But right now? You’re looking at a messy, day-to-day life—unpaid bills, fractured relationships, and anxiety.
So you stay silent. You hide the miracles God gave you simply because your present circumstances aren't polished yet. You worry that if you speak up while you’re still struggling, people will call you a hypocrite.
But this is exactly why God allowed Paul to have a "thorn in the flesh" (2 Cor 12:9).
The thorn is the painful anchor that keeps us from self-reliance. It forces us to stop trying to build our own towers of Babel or manufacture flawless images to the world.
When you testify about God’s supernatural power while still carrying a visible struggle, you aren't being a hypocrite—you are being a true witness.
The power to change a heart never rested on your perfect life anyway. It rests entirely on the Holy Spirit.
Stop waiting for the thorn to be removed before you praise the One who walked you through the fire. Your weakness doesn't invalidate the miracle; it just proves who actually performed it.
🙏 Pray:
Holy Spirit, give me the supernatural boldness to testify about Your miracles even while I am dealing with my thorns. Take the pressure off my shoulders and do the heavy lifting. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Living with a thorn in the flesh is a concept that many believers struggle to understand and accept. Through my own experience, I've learned that embracing the thorn is less about removing pain and more about witnessing God's grace through it. Just as Paul expressed in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness," our struggles provide a unique platform for God's power to be displayed. There were times when my daily life felt overwhelmingly messy—financial pressures, relational conflicts, and the constant battle with anxiety. I was hesitant to share my spiritual victories because my ongoing struggles seemed to contradict the miracles I had witnessed. However, reflecting on the scripture reminded me that true testimony isn’t about having a flawless story. It’s about acknowledging God’s work even through imperfections. The thorn acts as a constant reminder to reject self-reliance. If we try to present a perfect image or wait until all problems vanish, we delay the impact of our testimony. Instead, it is in our honesty and vulnerability that the Holy Spirit moves most powerfully. Revelation 12:11 highlights overcoming "by the word of our testimony," even amidst hardship. One practical step that helped me was inviting the Holy Spirit to give me boldness—not in my strength but through His power, as described in Acts 1:8. Praying for courage to openly share and praise God despite still wrestling with my thorn was transformative. It shifted my focus from shame to worship, from silence to proclamation. Furthermore, Psalm 107:2 calls for the redeemed to publicly acknowledge God's deliverance, even when the story isn’t neatly finished. This public declaration encourages others and creates a community of real faith, not just polished success stories. Living under the tension of the thorn has deepened my faith. It taught me that God's power is not diminished by our weakness but is glorified in it. Sharing this truth has connected me with many others who face similar challenges and fear judgment. If you feel too messy to share your journey, remember you are not alone, and your testimony, imperfect as it may be, has the power to bring hope and encouragement to others.
