”The Incense of Justice"

"God hates Sunday's songs that sleep through Monday's oppression."

Ever feel like you’re checking every religious box, but your faith still feels dead?You show up on Sunday.You sing the songs.You have the Bible verse magnet on your fridge.

But what happens when Monday hits?What if the things you do to get close to God are actually driving Him away?

God once handed out a divine eviction notice that changed everything.

We love quoting Amos 5:24."Let justice roll down like waters."It looks great on internet graphics.

But when God shouted those words at Israel, He wasn't applauding them. He was shutting down their church services.

They had the music down to a science.

The band was tight.The tithing was paid. They nailed the weekend service.

But the second they stepped outside the church doors?

They rigged their business scales.They ignored the broken.They bought their way out of trouble.They silenced the vulnerable.

They kept their Sunday completely clean while keeping their Monday hands filthy.

It’s terrifyingly easy to look at a broken world and think you just got lucky.

We climb to the top, look down, and whisper:"Good. Seating is limited. Don't let anyone else up here."

We watch the world break people daily.

We get used to it because it benefits our bank accounts. We think because lightning hasn't struck, God approves of our greed.

We adopt the law of the jungle: dog eat dog, get ahead at all costs.

But heaven is keeping receipts. Every desperate cry from the marginalized is filed in eternity. Every hidden tear from the persecuted is bottled. Every silent groan from the suffering is numbered.

In the ancient Tabernacle, holy incense burned constantly. It never went cold. Those prayers from the suffering are burning right now.

But here is the shift: if you belong to God, justice isn't your executioner. It's your advocate. Because of Jesus, you aren't marked for the destruction coming for the proud.You are positioned to receive divine vindication.

The Holy Judge is balancing the scales.

God never wanted a Sunday-only faith that sleeps through Monday's oppression.

When we sing "let incense arise," we are making a dangerous vow. We are declaring that our business ethics are our worship. Our hiring practices are our offering. Our daily kindness is the actual smoke rising to heaven.

True worship is a relentless, unceasing rhythm of justice. Night and day. Day and night. Let it rise. If God evaluated your worship based only on how you treated people on Monday...What would your song actually sound like?

Let's pray.

Holy Judge, forgive us for splitting our faith in half. Clean our hands. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours. Let our daily lives be the incense that never goes out. Let your righteousness roll through us like an endless stream. In Jesus' name, Amen.
