EP01: The Price of Love- It was their first date..
Her point of view:
I tend to get asked why I’m still single.
So I went on a few dates, to prove a point. I’m single not because I can’t find someone, but because I refuse to settle for the sake of settling down. Sometimes, it’s not timing that’s wrong, it’s the values.
So here's my story:
Him: You look younger than I expected. But I guess I’m quite a bit older than you, huh? You don’t mind the age gap, do you?
Her: Should I? Hahaha are you the type who cares about age when it comes to women?
Him: Well… you’re almost thirty, right? For women, that’s already quite old. Men don’t really have that concept. I’m just being honest, I care about beauty. That’s my standard. And beauty, you know… fades.
Her: Hmmm so, in your eyes, a woman’s worth is only in her looks?
Him: Not only looks, but let’s be real. In a marriage, a man provides, money, status, experience. A woman… she gains from that. It’s how the world works.
Her: So you think every woman is looking for money?
Him: I think most do. It’s just reality.
Her: Then any woman who loves you… only loves your money? Is that what you believe? You don’t think anyone could love you?
Him: Money is a part of me. It’s my ability.
Her: Yes, but it’s not your entire self. It shouldn’t be the only thing that defines you. Not every girl wants a man’s money. Some of us are looking for something real.
Him: When you’re rich, everyone loves you.
Her: That’s not love. That’s convenience. pauses. Tell me, how old are you?
Him: Old enough to know what I want. Young enough to afford it. And what I want is someone who matches me, financially, socially.
Her: Wow. You really believe love can be measured in net worth?
Him: Don’t you need money too?
Her: I do. But not yours. I earn my own. I don’t need to live off anyone.
Him: So you’re independent. That’s rare.
Her: No, that’s just being an adult. Were your past girlfriends the kind you ‘took care of’? You seem like the generous type, with money, at least.
Him: That’s what makes a man, doesn’t it?
Her: No. That just makes you a sponsor. You only recognize money, and you assume every woman does too. But if I didn’t love you for who you are, why would I choose you over every other rich man out there?
Him: I have plenty of options.
Her: I’m sure you do. You just don’t see that none of them truly love you.
He stayed silent. For the first time, he seemed unsure.
Him: I’ve built everything I have through hard work. Society recognizes me. My success proves my worth.
Her: Society recognizes your career. Not your heart. You keep winning in business, but losing in love. Do you even remember what it feels like to be loved without a price tag? And when I turn forty? Would I still ‘match’ you? Or would you replace me with someone younger, prettier?
