EP23: High Key Admire His Confidence

So I matched with this guy on Bumble.

We chatted for a few days, quite normal, quite okay. Then I realised something, he didn’t list his height on his profile. Red flag already, but I ask nicely.

I ask him,

“Eh, what’s your height?”

He reply,

“Height ah… confirm you will be satisfied.”

Immediately my brain start calculating.

In Singapore, average guy around 175cm right?

To be “satisfied”, in my head, I’m thinking maybe 185cm or something.

Then he start praising himself. Non-stop.

He say,

“My family ah, everyone say I very tall.

‘Wah this kid damn tall.’”

Okay noted.

For context, I’m already quite tall for a girl, 175cm. It's stated on my profile.

Anyway, we continue chatting like normal.

All good, vibes okay.

Then we decide to meet for dinner.

And when we finally meet…

He’s 170cm.

Not 185.

Not 180.

Not even “slightly taller than me”.

Suddenly everything make sense

why the height not listed,

High key admire his confidence.

For example, someone with a confident and outgoing personality might present themselves boldly, much like the guy I met. Michelle Choi’s MBTI insights often highlight how self-awareness and authenticity play crucial roles in forming genuine connections. When using dating apps, it’s common to face surprises regarding how people represent themselves, especially with sensitive topics like height. What I learned from this experience is that confidence can sometimes outweigh physical attributes — it’s the vibe and how someone carries themselves that leave lasting impressions. If you’re curious about personality frameworks like MBTI, they can offer a useful lens to understand behaviors and motivations behind first impressions. Personally, it helped me appreciate that even if facts don’t match expectations, it’s the genuine confidence and openness that matter most in building real rapport.
