Making Progress
I have been consistently working out for a month. I have a 4 day workout from my personal trainer. I feel great! I am dedicated to what I want. Patient with the process. Working on my nutrition. I am one who studies my body. As I get older food is a means to an end. I nourish myself with Whole Foods.
This belly and back fat has gots to go. That comes from high cortisol levels. I don’t do stress. I am learning several things about this process. Fasting works for me. My body cannot tolerate starchy carbs. I’m balancing out my nutrition for me and only what works for me.
Do what’s works for you. Learn what works for you!
Embarking on a fitness journey while navigating menopause presents unique challenges, but it also offers a chance for empowerment and transformation. As many women experience during this phase, hormonal changes such as elevated cortisol levels can contribute to stubborn belly and back fat. Managing stress is crucial because cortisol, a stress hormone, can promote fat storage, especially around the midsection. Integrating stress management techniques, like mindfulness and adequate sleep, can complement physical efforts to reduce fat. Nutrition plays an essential role, particularly focusing on whole foods that nourish the body without triggering inflammation or digestive issues. Some women find that limiting starchy carbohydrates helps manage weight and energy levels effectively during menopause. Intermittent fasting has also gained popularity for its benefits in metabolic health and fat reduction, but it's important to listen to your body and personalize any approach. Consistency in workouts tailored by a personal trainer can boost muscle mass, improve metabolism, and enhance overall well-being. Combining strength training with cardiovascular exercises four days a week allows for sustainable progress. However, patience and dedication are key, as hormonal transitions may slow changes, necessitating a compassionate mindset. The overarching advice is to embrace an individualized strategy: learn what your body tolerates well and adjust your nutrition and activity accordingly. Women over 50 can thrive by balancing exercise, mindful eating, and stress reduction. Engaging in communities like #fitover50 and consulting with coaching groups offers support and shared experiences that can inspire and sustain motivation throughout this transformative process.
