In my own experience, I’ve found that the idea of 'best friends' can sometimes set us up for disappointment. Many times, we expect these relationships to be perfect and unwavering, but in reality, they are just as complex and flawed as any other relationship. For example, I once stayed with my closest friend for several nights in a row. At first, it was fun and comforting to be together all the time. However, after a few days, small misunderstandings began to grow. We found ourselves arguing over trivial things — like when she made insensitive comments or when I didn’t check in on her enough. These moments made me question the nature of our bond because they felt sharper than I ever expected from a 'best friend.' One night, something happened that really scared me. I noticed changes in her behavior and even something unusual that I captured on a photo, where her eyes looked very white, which was not normal for her. It was a surreal experience that left me paralyzed with fear and confusion. This personal story helped me realize that the relationships we call 'best' are not defined by constant harmony but by the ability to navigate uncertainty and sometimes discomfort. True friendship involves patience, honest conversations, and sometimes accepting the imperfections of others — even if it means confronting scary or unsettling moments. Reflecting on this, I encourage everyone not to hold their friendships to unrealistic standards. Instead, focus on communication and empathy. Sometimes, friendships need to be reassessed or given space to grow. And it’s completely normal to feel like your so-called best friend relationship isn’t perfect; that doesn’t mean the friendship is worthless. It just means it’s real.
