Having attended various dance workshops before, I found that an intensive like this one with Asher Wang offers a unique opportunity to deeply engage with your body and movement creativity over multiple days. What makes this workshop special is its holistic approach—combining live drum improvisation, foundational floorwork, contemporary movement techniques, and partnering dynamics. The focus on experimentation and creation goes beyond just repeating choreography; it encourages personal expression and discovery. The workshop’s schedule spread over two days allows participants to progressively build skills: starting with rhythm, flow, and connection exercises, then moving into more advanced choreography explorations where participants create pieces solo, in duets, or groups. This structure helps dancers of varying levels reconnect with their bodies in innovative ways and break habitual movement patterns. Additionally, the venue at SPACECUBOID Gym Studio in City Sprouts Bedok provides a supportive environment where creativity is nurtured. The open studio showcase at the end is particularly motivating, providing a chance to share what you’ve developed and receive community feedback. If you’re considering joining, I recommend taking advantage of the active member promos—these make the experience more accessible. The takeaway from such a workshop is not only improved technical skills but also a refreshed sense of movement exploration and artistic confidence. Whether you want to deepen your contemporary dance practice or simply reconnect with your body’s expressive potential, this intensive is an inspiring place to start.
