Afterwards, dispose of the gloves properly and, again, wash your hands meticulously. Better yet, contact a local wildlife rescue or animal control – they are trained to handle such situations safely. So, does this mean we should avoid pigeons altogether? Not necessarily! They're fascinating creatures, and an integral part of urban ecosystems. You can still appreciate them from a distance. Observing their behaviors, their unique cooing sounds, and how they interact with their environment can be really enjoyable. If you want to feed them (check local regulations first!), scattering seeds on the ground is a way to interact without direct physical contact. Just remember, a balanced diet from nature is best for them. Ultimately, while a fleeting touch might not lead to immediate disaster, the general advice to avoid touching pigeons stands for good reason.
